The terms that apply to using this website and engaging The Local Alchemist for web design and related services.
The Local Alchemist operates from the United Kingdom and serves clients in the United States from there. Engagements are arranged at arm’s length, in writing, and priced in US dollars.
Content on this site is provided for general information about the services offered. Reasonable care is taken to keep it accurate, but no warranty is given. Use of the site is at your own discretion.
Quotes and pricing shown on the site are indicative starting points in US dollars. The final scope, deliverables, and price for any engagement are agreed in writing before work begins. Nothing on this site forms a binding offer until a written agreement is in place.
Payment terms are confirmed in the written agreement for each engagement. Setup fees are typically paid up front by ACH transfer, wire, or card; ongoing monthly fees are paid by recurring card or invoice. Fees are quoted and charged in US dollars. Late payment may suspend ongoing services until the account is brought current.
On full payment, the site, content, domain, and any analytics property are yours. Where the work uses third-party software, fonts, or platforms, those remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their own licenses.
Either party may cancel an ongoing arrangement with reasonable notice as set out in the written agreement. On cancellation, account access and hosting are handed over so the site keeps running with another provider.
The Local Alchemist’s liability for any single engagement is limited to the fees paid for that engagement. Indirect, consequential, or loss-of-profit claims are excluded to the extent allowed by law. Nothing in these terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under the law of your home state.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, on the basis that the studio is located there and provides services from there. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that nothing in this clause prevents you from bringing a claim in a court that has mandatory jurisdiction in your home state under applicable consumer-protection law.
These terms may be updated from time to time. The version on this page applies from its publication date. Existing engagements are governed by the written agreement in force at the time.
